What does everyone use to clean their cages?  I think I need something a little better than my current method of cleaning.  I don't want to use any harmful chemicals though. Chinchilla

WWW

my favorite all-safe cleaners are baking soda, white vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide.

there was a study, that when you clean an item with hydrogen peroxide (h2O2), rinse, and clean it with vinegar (or in reverse order), the sterilizing effects are equal to or even excedes chlorox bleach. don't have time to find the article right now, but that's what i like to use!

I use a 1:1 vinegar/water solution.  I haven't used peroxide personally but it is a good cleaner.

I think my problem lays in the cage design.  There are certain shelves in the chinchillas cage that they like to pee on.  I use the vinegar and water solution currently, but I will try hydrogen peroxide next time.

Well I went all out this time around I used hydrogen peroxide, then a vinegar and water solution, and finally nature's miracle.  It seemed to work a lot better, but I have to clean the shelf again cause they decided to pee agian...  Roll Eyes  I wish they would just use their bedding.  Chinchilla2
