What makes Aloe vera toxic?

Aloe vera contains saponins.

What are saponins?

Saponins are what make the soapy like substance found in aloe. When mixed with liquid and shaken they create a dense foam. The saponin molecules are large and are not easily absorbed by the intestines.

Signs of poisoning

If you suspect poisoning the symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, and discolored urine.

Toxicity

Toxic to cats, toxic to dogs
