For the past few months Sierra has been shedding quite a bit. I'm not sure why but she isn't going bald or anything so I haven't been that worried about it. It looks like she is almost done shedding / molting she just has some fur on her back that looks like it will fall out in the next week or so. Her coat is in excellent condition minus the few puffs of loose hair. I'm just wondering if this is normal? I don't think she did this the previous year.

chinchillas do shed.  not heavily tho.. i find little tiny clumps that come out of mine.  i'm not exactly sure what their season for this is, but they do it once a year.

Okay, that's good to know that they do in fact shed. Like you said it wasn't much but it was enough to notice.

they shed twice a year, spring and fall, and not much..

i just asked my breeder friend. she was online when i opeend thios..lol.. i knew they shed, but not sure how often...
