I found this fish to be quite fascinating. It is called a Barreleye Fish or Macropinna microstoma. They used an ROV to film it off the coast of Central California at depths of 600 to 800 meters (2,000 to 2,600 feet) below the surface. It's distinctive feature is it's see thru head. On first glance it seems the fish's eyes are in the normal spot but those are just it's nostrils. The eyes are actually in side of its clear head. For years they have caught the Barreleye in nets but this is the first time that it has been seen in it's full form.
