These are a really interesting find. My favorite one is the second one from the top. Even in some of the photos it's hard to spot them, no wonder why no one has discovered them until now.

In one of the pygmy seahorse photo descriptions it says that it's only a half an inch in height. The size of their offspring are about about the size of a 12 point apostrophe. Shocked

Photos of the recently desovered seahorses.

AHHHHH!!! SO CUTE!! My favorite is #4.

A fellow saltwater aquarium enthusiast (slash co-worker slash friend lol) is looking for Seahorses or Seaponies right now... he wants to start a seahorse/pony tank. I sent this link to him saying he should try to find these (a joke of course).

The lowest we can find a seahorse for is $75 a pop (ponies run about $180).

Every once and a while there are seahorses at the LFS, I can't remember how much they were though. Recently they just installed a really nice coral frag section. I really don't know much about saltwater stuff but it looks impressive.

Generally you'll find them for $75 a pop at the LFS. They require a specialty tank with NO other fishes in it... just seahorses. Because they're so dumb and slow, any other fish will eat the food before they get to it, and they'll starve.
